Workout Routine Cards

Being organized makes my mind happy.
Working out makes my body happy.

Lately I've felt flustered before working out.  There is so much to do that when I'm dressed and ready to go I'm swimming in a million different workout options.  I've got kettlebells that I can do dead lifts with, or swings, or prayer squats, or sit ups with, etc.  I can do lunges, or lunge side to side, or lunge with weights, or lunge with a press, etc.  It's endless!

The other day I took some time to write out a bunch of exercises.  I choose some colorful index cards and started creating workouts from there.  The best part, they're quick to blast through so I can do them with the timer on my phone and be done before I'm tired of it all!

Working out doesn't have to be long...they can be short, quick, sweat-fests that make you feel great for the rest of the day, or sore the next!  I encourage you to put together a few of your own routines.  If you need help, shoot me a message, I now have many!

COREiculum Yoga Session

Last year I had the pleasure of working with Monmouth College student, Andy Stern, an entrepreneur and fitness expert who put together the genius idea, COREiculum.  It's a fitness program designed by college students for college students!  Keeping a student's hectic schedule, small dorm-room environment, sporadic sleeping habits, and dietary challenges, COREiculum is a student's professor, adviser, and classmate to a sculpted, toned, and well-defined bathing suit body in just 25-45 minutes a day.  I offered an "extra-credit" yoga course on the DVD and am psyched for college students to whip their health into shape by getting in their workouts, yoga, and nutrition habits into better shape!

Check out more about COREiculum here and/or purchase your DVD!
I enjoy the workouts each week at home even though I'm way out of college - HA!!

Choose FUN Workouts!

We all have jam-packed lives, but we know squeezing in a workout is key to good health.  However, if our workouts aren't something that we enjoy, what the heck is going to make us stop all that we have to do to go do one?!  Lately, I've been uber crunched for time, but dying to get in workouts.  I set up stations in my living room to change things up a bit and to bang something out really fast.  For example, I'll set up 3-4 stations and do 1-2 minutes at each, and move right to the next, a total of 3 rounds.  One station may be hula hooping (as seen above!), another may be ab-work or crunches, another is jump roping, another is kettlebells, another is incorporating a large exercise ball, another may be lunges with weights, etc.  A few of these may all be happening while blasting my favorite work out tunes in the back to keep me going.
Moral of my workouts is that whatever I do, it's loads of FUN & movement!

Drop any ideas you may have of what a workout has to look like and take a moment
to think about what physical activities excite you.

How can you incorporate more of those activities into your weekly routine so that you can move more?
